Political Bumper Stickers

If you read my last article on this blog, Best Political Books, I mentioned one of the
political bumper stickers I have on the back of my car. It reads:
"LIBERALISM IS A CURABLE DISEASE." Actually, I have four political bumper stickers on my car. Another one states: "POLITICALLY INCORRECT AND PROUD OF IT." The remaining two political bumper stickers on my car
don't actually count anymore. They are faded out, waiting for me to remove them, which is always a fun task, I jest. I think I'm going to limit it to two political bumper stickers from now on.

I know many people don't like to put bumper stickers on their cars, especially political bumper stickers. However, I believe, that if people would only start exposing themselves to our "out - of - control government", as pointed out in Glenn Beck's Common Sense and other best political books, maybe they would change their minds and see what impact displaying what they believe in, through the use of political bumper stickers might make.

I don't know how much impact I have made on people. Occasionally, I do get a response driving down the road, whether it be positive or negative, does not really matter. I've been given thumbs-up and once the middle finger, signifying that I'm number one. It really doesn't matter what the response is, because it tells me that one of my political bumper stickers has made an impact on people. So, using political bumper stickers on your car is just one form of speaking out, speaking your mind, letting the world know where you stand on certain things.

There are many places you can post your political bumper stickers other than your car. I have one posted on my garage that I made on my computer:
"BE CREATIVE, ANNOY A LIBERAL".
I also have several political bumper stickers on my refrigerator. The reason they're on the refrigerator is that they are magnetic and conveniently located so I can grab one, if I care to, to use on my car, depending on how I feel and where I'm going. Those are neat because they are magnetic. Three of them read:
"THROW THE BUMS OUT" "YOUR WALLET, The only place Democrats want
to drill" and "LEGALIZE THE CONSTITUTION."

Some people that know me, think I'm a republican, but that's not true. I am an American. I believe in freedom and liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Notice that one of my political bumper stickers states: "THROW THE BUMS OUT" - it does not refer to just the Democrats, it says "THE BUMS." As Glenn Beck writes in his
Common Sense:

"The time has come for a second American Revolution ------ bring your
passion, but leave your muskets at home. This revolution will take place in
our minds and hearts...This revolution will be won when Americans rebel
against the lies that are being told by those in power..."

Using political bumper stickers is but one way of joining the revolution. Using political bumper stickers you can make your own statement on what you believe without having to defend it, not much time for debate moving 30 - 70 mph down the road. Using political bumper stickers is cool!

Oh, I might add - I am not any kind of fanatic either. I'm just your everyday American,
that has decided it's time to speak out.

Best Political Books

Over the weekend, I bought a copy of what I consider as one of the best political books recently written. Now I'm going to use best political books in a broad sense. I'll use best political books to encompass any subject matter that we all should, I believe, be aware of as Americans. Certainly, this will be one man's opinion, but we are all opinionated to a lesser or greater degree, aren't we?

I'm not going to give a book review, I hated giving book reports in school, but I will say a few things about it and the author. I read it and place it in my best political books category. The book is:
Glenn Beck's Common Sense, The Case Against an Out-of-Control Government.

I try to watch The Glenn Beck Show everyday on Fox, or at least record it for later playback. Glenn states that his book was inspired by Thomas Paine, who wrote Common Sense in 1776, which I would also place in the best political books category.

I purchased Glenn's book and also the audible, which is read by the author. I really enjoy audible books, especially if they are read by the author, but that's another story for another time, perhaps. I believe Glenn Beck is truly a patriot worth watching. He gives us a lot of information and food for thought. I am also a member of The 9.12 Project, that he started.

I enjoyed his
Common Sense, and highly recommend it as a must read, one among many on my best political books list. It made me think of a political bumper sticker I have on the back of my car, it reads: "LIBERALISM IS A CURABLE DISEASE."

In the near future, I might share with you a list of some of the best political books that we can expose ourselves to. Especially now more than ever, in the times we live in, there is an urgency that we all make ourselves aware of what is going on in Washington D.C. I know, you may say, things have always been going on in Washington... This is different, our politicians are out of control - I'm trying to say - "Wake-Up America!" Don't let your children or grandchildren, someday, ask you- ...why did you let this happen?

Maybe you'll start a best political books library, as I have and share some of those best political books with friends and relatives.

Happy Father's Day, to all the fathers out there.

Flag Day - Don t Tread On Me Flag

I’m new to the internet and especially this blogging thing, so bear with me. In my early
sixties, it figures that it is about time that I see if I can make any kind of mark on our
society. At least have my say while I can still say it, this still is a free country, I believe.

It was sometime in the early 90’s that I found myself as an over the road truck driver.
My dad had passed away in the fall of 1992. Several months later, I found myself inspired to write a poem. As I recall, I was out in the great northwest,
Montana to be exact.

This Great Land of Ours

I’ve seen the mountains touch the sky, snow still there in June perhaps
July. I’ve seen the green grass on the prairie and the blooming in the
desert. My Dad never saw Montana as I drive through and take it for
granted.

I’m a trucker, and I don’t make much money, but I have more wealth than
you can imagine, for I’ve seen the vastness of this great land of ours. From
Boston to San Diego I’ve gone, from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico,
from Puget Sound to the shores of Miami, I’ve driven a big truck. I’ve been
on four lanes, three lanes and one lane at times. I’ve seen the
cities and countryside. I see all those vehicles, and wonder where they’re
going and why they are in such a rush to get there?

I have long hair and sometimes a beard, but at least I don’t have to wear
a tie, I think I’d die. I drive over 500 miles a day, so I change my scenery
everyday. If travel is vacation to most, I guess I might be a great host.

I have a storage area in Michigan, my truck is out of Atlanta, I have
residency in Florida, my hearts in Arizona, but my load is going to
Pomona. Yes, trucking is not so bad for me, ‘cause I’ll see places you’ll
never be, so go to your jobs and think of me, while I’m out here and
and really free.

“…this great land of ours…” Today is flag day and I have my Don t Tread On Me flag flying beneath the U.S. flag out on the flag pole in the front yard. Actually, it happens to be the First Navy Jack flag. If you look up the history of the D0n t Tread On Me flag, you’ll find that “don’t tread on me” is actually a motto that was used, along with the symbol of the rattlesnake around the time of the revolutionary war. There are a few variations of the Don t Tread On Me flag that were in use back in revolutionary times, such as the Gadsden and Culpepper flags, that also had the “don t tread on me” motto along with the rattlesnake.

In the future, I hope to share more about myself and some of the reasons why I think it is very important now, perhaps more than ever, to show where we stand on the things that are really important to us as a nation. We can do this in different ways, like displaying political bumper stickers or exposing ourselves to some of the best political books that are available to us today, or go out and get yourself a Don t Tread On Me flag - the 4th of July is rapidly approaching. Summer is upon us, Yea!!!
