Now let’s see, where are we as far as national healthcare goes? The news of the day is changing so fast, it’s hard to keep up with what’s current and what’s old news.
Public support for a national healthcare bill, better known as Obamacare, and correctly labeled H.R. 3200, is losing much ground, as can be seen at town hall meetings being conducted by some of our representatives while they are on their summer recess. Most national polls show and correctly reported by Fox News, that the majority of American people do not want this national healthcare bill, what President Obama and the Democrat majority in congress are trying to get passed sometime this year. There are many news sites on the internet that report accurate and honest analysis of what’s going on with the issue of national healthcare. For me, as far as television, I don’t waste my time listening or watching junk from any of the “in the tank” for Obama and the Dems, so called news networks.
Getting back to the town hall meetings - I have noticed that it has been reported all over the internet, talk radio and on Fox News the negative response by some of our national leaders to the public speaking out at these town hall meetings. Nancy Pelosi calling them nazi’s and carrying swastika’s, another congressperson making a comparison to the KKK, while another congressperson decides to conduct a town hall meeting over the phone. Just because the people speaking out against the proposed national healthcare bill, that will be considered in the months ahead, disagree with it, they’ve been labeled as un-American, even mobsters and misinformed and more. Perhaps some of those congressional people are out of touch with their constituents or maybe they really don’t care what “we the people” think of this issue of national healthcare. What do you think?
Over the week-end, on one of the national news show, Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), stated “… that if we don’t have a bipartisan bill we’ll never be able to meet the goal by having a law signed by the end of the year…so yes we are considering alternative means…” Meaning, what is called the nuclear option, a simple majority of 51 votes in the Senate. As opposed to the 60 votes needed to stop any filibuster. Looks like, maybe Charles, doesn’t have the 60 votes in the Senate. If the Democrats don’t get any Republican support, and go for the nuclear option, wouldn’t that be ramming it down the American peoples throat? Do you agree?
Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT), believes that we should wait until we get thru the recession before passing any national healthcare total bill, no reason to do it all now. Question: Why are the Democrats and The President in such a rush to get national healthcare (govt. controlled) passed? Oh, maybe I forgot, it’s one of those national crisis situations.
President Obama and the Democrats have control of the Whitehouse and both the House of Representatives and The Senate. They can get passed almost anything they want to get passed. They haven’t been able to get national healthcare passed and the longer it takes them the harder it becomes. Perhaps they have been trying to get national healthcare passed before the American people wake up and realize what, exactly, is in HR 3200 America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009. Well, I think that it was aptly stated by a person at one of those town hall meetings - “…you are awakening a sleeping giant…” Hope she is right -

One last question I will ask you - with this national healthcare - the question I must ask is - Do you want yourself and your family to be treated as a budget item by some government bureaucrat?
One last comment - Attorney General Eric Holder opens a CIA abuse investigation. That’s a good ploy, get the people off the subject of national healthcare and continue to demonize the last administration and the Republicans. Our national security doesn’t matter, the world loves Barack Obama, full steam ahead, let’s hear it for national healthcare, yea!

A Comparison and Some National Healthcare Questions

Hi, how are you today? Took the time to go for a bike ride this morning. As I traveled on my short trek on my Trek, I had thoughts of what I have been reading lately and hearing on the news. A lot of it has been about national healthcare or what has been labeled by some as Obamacare. It made me think of a personal comparison I have between our healthcare system and the Canadian healthcare system.
Sometime in mid-October of 2008, I managed to injure my left shoulder in an accident while doing some work at home. I was moving some boxes that I had stored in my garage and I stumbled over something. In the process I managed to catch my fall by stretching my left hand out to the wall. My hand and arm grasped the wall, but the momentum kept my body moving forward. The result was very painful as I forced my arm and shoulder back into an unnatural position.
Now, I’m not the type person that runs to the doctor whenever I get a headache or upset stomach. I did some self administered first-aid immediately and returned to work on Monday. Luckily, for me it had happened early on Saturday morning, so I had the week-end to take it easy. I thought, that if I just took it easy I would heal in time, you know - body heal thyself. Needless to say, that didn’t happen. I called for a doctor’s appointment.
When I was examined by my doctor, he decided to send me to a specialist. He thought it might be a torn rotator cuff. After having an MRI scan a few days later, I returned to the specialist and he advised me I could have surgery or do some physical therapy that might help. I decided that therapy was the route to take. I had therapy 2-3 times a week for several weeks then was left on my own to continue the therapy exercises I had been taught. To this day I haven’t had any surgery.
Unknown to me at the time and not for about a month after my injury had occurred , I learned that a Canadian , I’ll call him Bill, working for the same company as myself, had suffered the same injury about the same time as mine. When I asked about him and what he was doing about it, his supervisor told me that he was on the waiting list for an MRI test. He told me that it wasn’t scheduled until mid-January 2009. To make a long story short, the essence of this story is: by the time Bill had his MRI test, I had seen my regular doctor, been to a specialist (an orthopedic), had an MRI test, back to the specialist and started on and was about half way or more through my physical therapy sessions at the doctor’s office.
Recently, I ran into a coworker of Bill’s and asked him about Bill. He told me that Bill finally returned to work about the end of this June or first part of July. Also, that he had hated every minute of the time off. I had expressed to my doctor that I didn’t want any restrictions placed on me and continued working after the injury. I don’t believe that was a choice for Bill.
Now, one could say, but his healthcare was provided by the government and therefore free, mine wasn’t free. Oh really? It’s true, I had to pay a copay each time I went to see a doctor and each time I had a physical therapy session. However, the copay was reasonable and affordable and worth the cost to me. Is his healthcare really free? Wonder what he pays in income taxes compared to me.
Some questions to ask on the debate over national healthcare are:
If something is working why change it?
If something has some things that need to be reformed, then why not address those places for reform instead of scraping the entire healthcare system?
If government takes over the national healthcare system, then you must ask yourself - when has a government run anything ever worked?
Has a government monopoly on anything ever proved to be cost efficient?
If a national healthcare system, Obamacare, is so great, then why has congress, Democrats, voted that they do not have to participate in a national healthcare system?
The biggest question of all - Do you want another federal bureau run by another czar or czarina, unanswerable to “we the people”, making healthcare decisions about you and your family? Or - do you want to have the power with your chosen doctor/doctors concerning decisions about your health?
Do you want to have a loved one turned down by a government bureaucracy for treatment, because they are too old for that treatment, because the government figures it’s not cost efficient?
We must use common sense when making decisions of this magnitude.
I said this prior to the election last year - “if Barack Obama wins the election and becomes our next president, and if the Democrats manage to win both houses of congress, then they will destroy this country as we know it”. Come on now, use some common sense. If you agree with Obama and the Democrats, fine. You need to educate yourself on our founding and what the founding fathers created in this nation of ours. You need to find out the history of the “great depression” that occurred here in the early 20th century and compare it to what is going on now. Another question we need to ask, can you borrow or spend yourself out of debt? Our present government, the Obamacrats, seem to think this is the way. Oh, I forgot, they can print money when needed, forget about inflation and our children and liberty and freedom.
A National healthcare system is not about national healthcare, it’s about more government power in the hands of Obama and the Democrats, but mainly Obama. It’s part of Barack Obama’s plan to change this country to what it is not. The more powerful government becomes the more liberty and freedom “we the people” lose. Once lost, it will be almost impossible to regain. It’s about changing this country into The U.S.S.A. - The United Socialist States of America. Tell me, where has socialism worked anywhere in the world? “…change we can believe in…” Right!?

Political Thoughts

Good day to all of you, how are you today? IT’S FRIDAY! YEA! We’ve waited the whole week, and now the week-end is upon us. We can go act like fools, we are free for the week-end - yea! For those of you that are not free for the week-end, my heart goes out to you, all I can say is get another job that you don’t have to work the week-end.
Why am I so happy about the week-end coming on? Simply because I am a full time worker myself, I mean, besides doing this internet thing. I have a “job” that I go to everyday, five days a week.
There are some thoughts I’d like to share with you today, they’re not all political thoughts, most of them probably are political thoughts, I’ll try to have at least one non political thought for you. Remember, this is a political thoughts blog. There, I’ve said “political thoughts” enough.
Non Political Thoughts:
There’s a poem that I really like and would like to share it with you. Maybe, some of you have already exposed yourself to it, that’s o.k. Many years ago (probably thirty plus) I ran across a poem, I liked it and even got a record with it on it. The name of it is Desiderata, enjoy.

On my way to work last night I was listening to Mark Levin on the radio and he talked about an article that appeared in NRO (National Review Online). I read the article this morning, it was worth the time. The title of the article is Obama vs. Mathematics, by Jagadeesh Gokhale & Kent Smetters. Their premise is “health care plus higher taxes only on the ‘rich’ equals disaster.”

Political Thoughts

Hi, how are you? Rush starts his show like that sometimes. Oh my god, he listens to Rush Limbaugh, every chance I get. I use to listen to him everyday back in the days of over-the-road driving (ten to twenty years ago). Now, I don’t have that much time and besides there is so many other things that keeps me busy. However, I do listen to him when I can.
This morning I did something that I haven’t done in awhile. I went bike riding for about two and half hours. To be clear about it, I went for a ride on my bicycle. Man, I had a great time!
The title I’ve given this post, I know, is “political thoughts”, and I do have lots of political thoughts. I have read and studied lots of political thoughts. I have a political thoughts degree. It‘s true - one of the things I have accomplished in my life is graduating from college. I have attended four colleges in my life, and on my wall in my den above me, is my certificate of graduation. It states “Bachelor of Science.” Now please don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean to be bragging or anything like that. I don’t usually tell people what I just said here, but I just wanted to let you all know a little more about me. I have yet to post any profile on myself here on my blog or places such as ezinearticles, but I will in time.
There are actually seven certificates I have on my wall above me that I am proud of. I bet most of you viewing this blog have accomplished or are accomplishing noteworthy things in your life too. Well, you should be proud of your accomplishments. It took dedication, hard work, sacrifice, whatever, and you accomplished it. Now, you don’t have to brag about it, but it’s o.k. to be proud of what you accomplished.
Oh, I will only mention at this time, two other ones on the wall. First, I have a certificate that states on a certain date I was initiated into Pi Sigma Alpha, which is The National Political Science Honor Society. The last one I’ll mention is one that I am probably most proud of - it states: “This is to certify that __________, was Honorable Discharged from the United States Navy on the 1st day of November 1971...”
I wanted to get back to Rush, for a couple more comments. I am Rush Limbaugh’s biggest fan. Do you want to know why? Because it says “Rush’s Biggest Fan” on the coffee mug I bought from his website. Also, a very close relative of mine told me once, that “…I listened to Rush Limbaugh, once, for about thirty minutes or so and really didn’t like him…”
I try to keep informed on what is going on in the world on a daily basis as much as possible. On the internet, I’m not sure of the number of websites I go to for information. I must have at least thirty to fifty sites in my “favorites list”. Most of these are news sources. Television - I watch The Fox News Channel. I like Fox and Friends in the morning, Neil Cavuto and for sure Glenn Beck in afternoon. In the evening, Bill O’Reilly, Hannity, and Greta sometimes, and Baseball. Radio - Rush, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, Hannity, occasionally Michael Savage and G. Gordon Liddy, and there are others that I may listen to on the radio sometimes. There are several publications and email letters that I subscribe to also. It’s impossible to listen to everything daily, but I try to get the most I can.
I’ve talked mostly about myself, well I just wanted to give you some background on where I’m coming from.

Tu Ne Cede Malis
There is so much to say and so little time to say it and so many places on the internet that are saying it, why should I even attempt to say anything…? Maybe it will just give me personal satisfaction that I went on the record and had my say. But who’s going to read it? I’ve been told by my mentors that the more I blog the better chances I have for more people to find me on the internet. I’ll attempt to take their advise and see what we shall see. But I digress.
Flash - I have The Fox News Channel on in another room and The Mike Huckabee Show is on, I heard him just say, that the majority of people in United States are saying they don’t want government provided healthcare, but the politicians are going to do it anyway and ignore “we the people”… I agree, the politicians are going to do whatever they want to do, they don’t really care about “we the people”. Well, perhaps there are some that actually do care, and do try to listen to the people, but right now, I believe, that they are in the minority and don’t have the numbers in congress, yet. Just remember, it is us, “we the people”, that, hopefully, still have the power in this nation. “Throw The Bums Out!” I know, my U.S. Congressman and both my U.S. Senators are in the class of bums that need to be thrown out. That’s another topic for discussion, another day.
What I wanted to share, is what tu ne cede malis means and it’s significance. I wear on one of my wrist what is called a “power band” or “liberty band”, with the phrase tu ne cede malis printed on it. Tu ne cede malis, means, “do not give in to evil”, the complete phrase is tu ne cede malis sed contra audentior ito, which means “do not give in to evil but proceed ever more boldly against it”. The origin of the phrase comes from Virgil’s Aeneid.
On the other side of my “liberty band,” you’ll find the name of the website that I acquired it from, Mises.org, which is the website of The Ludwig von Mises Institute based in Auburn, Alabama.The Institute was established in 1982 and is inspired by the works of Austrian School economist Ludwig von Mises.
Ludwig von Mises chose this phrase, tu ne cede malis sed contra audentior ito, as his guiding principle in life. The official motto of the institute, appropriately, is tu ne cede malis sed contra audentior ito.
The reason I have given you all this information, is because I wanted you to know a little of the background of The Ludwig von Mises Institute before I point out and briefly comment on an article I read on their website. Their website, Mises.org is abundantly full of scholarly works, daily articles and even things like liberty bracelets. I frequent their website almost daily, and expose myself to new knowledgeable information that applies to current events and analysis of our culture.
The article describes that the government is attempting to establish a government run healthcare monopoly that would eventually drive out of existence the private healthcare insurance industry. For sure, the government is the Democrats and Barack Obama, with a few rhinos (republican in name only) - my comment, not the author of the article. He continues with, in his view, of how difficult and actually a no win situation for the private insurance companies competing with the government would be, knowing that the government can control the rules of the game. Isn't that unfair competition - if one party can control the rules of the game? Whoever said that the government was fair?
The article goes on explaining healthcare costs. The author describes how countries adopting socialized healthcare have suffered from price-control-induced shortages and the results of that happening. He sites Canada as an example of what can happen with a system of national healthcare. I do not want this to happen to us here in the United States.
Price controls, shortages of medical personnel, doctors and nurses, waiting list for necessary treatments, rationing of health care… The author concludes: “This is America’s future, if “ObamaCare: becomes a reality.”

Don't Tread On Me T Shirt - Tool For The Current American Revolution
As my title of this post states, a don’t tread on me t shirt is a tool for the current American Revolution. I believe we, as a nation, are starting to see evidence of an American revolution happening. Witness the recent tea parties and the popularity and approval ratings for President Obama and the democrats of late.
If you go to Rasmussen Reports, you’ll see a downward trend in the Presidential Approval Rating.
On the other hand as Rush points out to a caller on his show recently, “…falling poll numbers aren’t going to accomplish anything…If we don’t stop this -- be it health care, tax and trade, whatever it is - it’s not going to be the United States of America you and I were born in.”
Don’t get me wrong, wearing a don’t tread on me t shirt, displaying a don’t tread on me bumper sticker, or flying a don’t tread on me flag, may be a small thing to do, in support of this current American Revolution, but I think not. All the above does make for more awareness to what is happening in our country.
On Saturday afternoon, this past week-end, I stopped by my son’s house. My daughter-in-law, Celeste - my 2+ year old granddaughter and a friend of theirs were relaxing in the backyard. They all had been to yard sales all morning and afternoon . My son commented on seeing a few don’t tread on me flags , (all Gadsden Flags), flying in front of houses. He has a Gadsden Flag flying in his yard also. He told me he’d like to have a don’t tread on me t shirt. Maybe I’ll get one for him and especially for my granddaughter Celeste.
Wearing a don’t tread on me t shirt, I think, is a good awareness motivator. Isn’t that what we, as people who want to awaken as many of the “drones” as we can, want to do? As Glenn Beck says in his book, Common Sense: “…This revolution will take place in our minds and hearts. This revolution will be won when Americans rebel against the lies that are being told by those in power…”
Having a don’t tread on me t shirt, or maybe several don’t tread on me t shirts in your wardrobe, and actually wearing them are good conversation openers. You wear one of the various designs of a don’t tread on me t shirt and someone is bound to ask you what is meant by don’t tread on me and why the rattlesnake and/or why are you wearing it? That opens the possibility of an educational conversation of current events. An opportunity to educate someone in the hopes of some enlightenment. A wake-up call, you being the person doing the awakening.
So become part of the current American Revolution, get a don’t tread on me t shirt, you’ll be glad you did.

Best Political Books Alert: It's a CATASTROPHE
Before I give my brief discussion of the new book that I have added to my best political books library, I would like to extend a belated happy 4th of July to all my fellow Americans out there. I hope you all had an outstanding and memorable 4th of July week-end, I know I did!
We, my children and grandchildren, did our annual cook-out at a local park we go to every 4th of July. The community has a great fireworks display every year. I believe this year was slightly shorter than previous years, perhaps a sign of the times, but it was still magnificent. Our youngest, Celeste (2 1/2), one of my granddaughter's, didn't make it all the way through to the end, falling asleep shortly after they started. Amazing, with all the exploding rockets and lights going on. We all had a grand time.
Now, the most recent addition to my best political books library, is Catastrophe, by Dick Morris and Eileen McGann. Dick Morris is a political commentator on Fox News and other networks. He served for twenty years as Bill Clinton's political consultant. Eileen McGann is an attorney and consultant, who works with Dick. Together they write weekly columns for foxnews.com and the New York Post.
In this best political book, it is reported, in detail and cited on the front cover: "How Obama, Congress, and the special interests are transforming...a slump into a crash, freedom into socialism, and disaster into a CATASTROPHE...and how to fight back"
Truly, a best political book, that needs to be read by every American. As stated in their book:
"It's time to take back our country. Now. It's that simple. It's that urgent. It's time to take
back from President Barack Obama, before he fully implements his radical agenda----one
that threatens our liberty, endangers our livelihood, and jeopardizes our very safety and
security. Obama has canceled the war on terror and declared a war on prosperity. It's a
catastrophe."
Another best political book. The authors of CATASTROPHE, report in detail some of the things that are and have been going on in Washington D.C. that we, as Americans, should be aware of. At the end of each chapter they give an "Action Agenda", things that we can and should do to remedy some of the wrongs that our so called trusted politicians are doing.
In the words of Thomas Jefferson, that he wrote in a letter on January 8, 1789:
"...whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their Government, that,
whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set
them to rights..."
I think that is what the authors of CATASTROPHE, are trying to do, in this best political book. First, make us citizens aware of the problems that have and are being created with the present caretakers of our government. Then, how, with the power "we the people" have, we can right the wrongs that are being perpetrated on us. As stated in CATASTROPHE:
"This is no time for apathy or alienation or hopelessness. It's time for action. The stakes
literally could not be higher."
I highly recommend this newest addition to my best political books library as a very informative, eye opening and useful tool in the fight to win our country back. Make no mistake, we are in a fight for our very freedoms and liberties that we celebrated this past week-end. We need to stop taking them for granted, or we just might lose them. Never, you say, I say - never say never. Also, once something is lost it is next to impossibe to regain it.

I realize that my list of best political books is not all inclusive of every best political book, but it is, I think, a list of some really great books to consider.
